Marriage certificate name deciphering
« on: Tuesday 25 October 22 18:24 BST (UK) »
Hi all, needing a wee hand with deciphering the writing on this marriage certificate. It's Alexander Mackenzie and Mary Munro's marriage but I can't decipher their parents nor the date/venue of the wedding.

I think Alexander's parents are a John and Mary Mackenzie nee Macleod? But I cannot make out Mary Munro's parents.

Any help appreciated  :)

Colm (possibly Colin) McKenzie and Mary McKenzie (M.S. McLeod)

Alexander Munro and Mary Munro (M.S. ?) will look again, but maybe Kemp.

Kilmuir Easter Free Church

Add: There is a marriage of an Alexander Munro (Farmer, residence, Torran) to a Mary Kemp (residence, Carlrichy) in Kilmuir Easter, Ross and Cromarty on 13 August 1830.

On reflection, probably Colin rather than Colm, as seems to be backed up by all the birth entries.

Hi, thank you for your reply! I think it is Colin actually, not John as I thought. Looking at the letter C for other words confirms that. I also think you may be right with that surname being Kemp. Thank you for checking for the marriage!  ;D

On reflection, probably Colin rather than Colm, as seems to be backed up by all the birth entries.

The date is the 'twentyninth day of May 1869'

I read the MS surname of Mary's mother as 'Hariss'. Looking at more entries in the same hand for the letter at the beginning of this name will determine if it is H or K.
