Ethel May Frost of Sussex

I am looking for any help with the parents of Ethel May Frost born Battle, Sussex in 1913. Her birth information tells me her mother’s name was Haker.


(Ethel married Jack Crittenden.
Ethel died in 2003 in Sussex.)

Ethel's marriage cert says her father was Joseph FROST, a salesman.

There is a Joseph FROST and Celia Maria BAKER on the same page married at Battle Dec qtr 1906 - a possibilty.

Modified to add:
Though in the 1911 census at Bexhill, Joseph FROST (married to Celia Maria) is a boot repairer.

But in the 1939 he is a hardware salesman - so still a possibility.

Interestingly, I had found that marriage and wondered already if Baker had been mistranscribed as Haker.

I don't have a subscription to findmypast, however I would guess looking at the searchable index for the 1921 census that Ethel May FROST (c1913) is with her family  - Joseph (c1880) and Celia (c1879) in Battle.

I think Joseph FROST is fairly easy to find on the censuses. His parents seem to be James FROST and Ruth CLARKE (married 14 Dec 1875 at Hadlow Down). James father - James FROST, labourer; Ruth's father - George CLARKE, farmer.

Joseph FROST birth registration  - Mar qtr 1882  Uckfield (2b/131) mmn CLARK.
