Ann Drinkwell
« on: Monday 07 November 22 21:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I've reached a complete brick wall with this ancestor. On Lan-Opc, I can find a marriage to a Thomas Rawsthorne on 28 Apr 1812 at St Michael, Whitewell, Lancashire, England but no parents' names are provided. They have a daughter, Ann, on 2 Sep 1812.

I've looked on Lan-Opc for a birth for Ann Drinkwell (and searched on permutations like Drinkel) and can't really find anything for an Ann that would fit for someone having a child in 1812.

[Edit]

There are a few other Ann Drinkalls who get married in 1894 and 1895. They have different fathers and I have no idea if they are the same person as Ann Drinkwell.

There is an Anne Drinkell baptised on 2 Aug 1767 at Christ Church, Over Wyresdale, Lancashire, England. Daughter of Thomas Drinkell & Agnes. But she would be 45 at the time Ann Rawsthorne was born so possible but unlikely?

There is an Ann Drinkall baptised on 21 Aug 1864 at St Anne, Woodplumpton, Lancashire, England
Daughter of Thomas Drinkall & Ann. But she would be 48 at the time Ann Rawsthorne was born so seems unlikely.

The name Rawsthorne also has multiple spellings and variations so struggling to make much progress with this couple.

Hi, your post is confusing as you mention dates from 1812 to 1895 for the same Ann?
What person do you have confirmed records for?
Which census do you find them in?
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)

Argh, you're right, it is confusing. I'll edit it with the correct dates. Thanks.

Find my Past has the marriage license/bonds for Cheshire

It states Thomas Rawsthorn 21 widowed to marry Ann Drinkwell 21 widowed to be married in Whitewell.

Both are of Forest, Bawland, Whitewell, County of York, Diocese of Chester
The license was 7 March 1812

Thomas was a farmer.

The original image has ages of 21 and over so they were definitely older

So her maiden name was not Drinkwell

This could be a possible first marriage for Ann:-

Lancaster on 30 September 1797 Ann Bains to a John Drinkwell.  There are a couple of deaths which could be John with incorrect surname spellings:-

John Drinkel buried 25 April 1804 in Lancaster, no age given and John Drinkell buried 18 February 1811 in Lancaster, no age given.

Wow, this is all so helpful. Thank you so much. I've been getting nowhere with this couple so I'm amazed I've now got so many more names to explore. Thank you  :)
