FTM advice
« on: Tuesday 08 November 22 11:28 GMT (UK) »
I have recently bought Family Tree Maker 2019. It syncs with Ancestry. I have an Ancestry subscription.  My question is...if I delete a tree on Family Tree Maker will that tree also be deleted on Ancestry

Thankyou
Christine

I would call FTM and ask that question directly.

Saw this in the User's Manual...

Unlinking Trees
If you no longer want your FTM and Ancestry trees linked
together, you can remove the connection between them.
Warning: If you unlink your FTM and Ancestry trees, changes will no longer be synchronized, and you cannot relink the trees, but you can upload
or download the tree again to create a new link. Also note that Ancestry
hints will not appear in an unlinked tree.
1. Click the Ancestry Sync icon in the top-right corner of any
workspace and choose Unlink Tree from the drop-down list.
2. Click Unlink

Thank you for that. I think I will create a small 'dummy' tree then I can have a go at disabling the synch feature and then delete the tree. If it all goes pear shaped it won't really matter but if it works OK, then I can go ahead
Thanks again
