Charles Mulholland- Darlington

 I am hoping for information about Charles Mulholland of Darlington, especially his parents (or other past).

Charles Mulholland was married to Mary Ann Harriet Miller in 1949 in Darlington.

Charles served in the Merchant Navy and Royal Pioneer Corps  (according to oral family history).

When did he die? If he died after 1969 his full birthdate will be on his death reg

When you say “of” Darlington - do you mean he was born there or just lived there?

Mary A H Miller was b 1922 but the nearest Charles Mulholland births in Durham are 1905 & 1910.  The 1905 one seems to have died in 1969

Mary Ann H Mulholland died in Kent in 1989

A Charles Mulholland b 19.5.1910 died in Kent in 1991

Unfortunately I do not know his birthdate/ place or death date, only the dates of his wife and the fact they were married and had a son- George Ernest in Darlington.
Charles and Mary were either separated by his early demise, estranged or divorced in later life.
His wife Mary Ann Harriet (nee Millar) was born in 1922 and died in 1989, but everything I have been told suggests that Charles may have been much older than Mary.

Mary was born in Sunderland and died in Kent!

The 1910 birth was registered in the September qtr in Durham but was a bit late for a birth in May.  His mothers maiden name was Hume

A Charles Alfred Mulholland was born June Qtr 1910 Pancras his mmn was Malcolm

Parents of the Durham Charles were John Mulholland & Alice Ann Hume

The Pancras Charles died 1910 so can be ruled out

You really need to buy a copy of the 1949 marriage cert to get his age (hopefully) and fathers name & occ

There is a tree on Ancestry for the Darlington Charles showing he married Eileen Reed in Durham in 1934 & had a daughter who died 1918 but a number of other children were born in Durham up to 1953 which would rule out another marriage in 1949

Strange though that he also died in Kent??

No mention of a second marriage on the tree so the 1949 marriage cert may give answers

Charles appears with his 1st wife Eileen Reed (Married 1934)on the 1939 war register. They had 6 children between 1933-1939. With Charles in 1939 is his sister Agnes born 1922.
