Thank you, but experts have checked and there are no records for him apart from his medal card.

Al - I have just seen your replies to the Prisoner of War post. Are the Glasgow records only for men who stayed on after 1919? According to family my grandfather stayed on in France well into 1919.

The Experts who told you there were no Records for your Granddad on Ancestry amongst the Survived Scanned Burnt Army Records because they believed his Army Records were amongst those Blitzed in September 1940 when the Repository Army Storeroom was hit at Arneside Street.
But that Depot was holding Army Records for Soldiers who were either Declared Unfit for Service at Attestation or where Killed in Action up to 1918 or were Demobbed in my Experience up to early 1919 though the Records say later 1919/20 Records were there up to January 1921
It is possible his weren't in that Storeroom in 1940 because his Records were not sent there in 1919 but were in Hayes  Depot later sent to Glasgow where they may possible still there awaiting for the Transfer to the National Archives Kew in time.
If you have his Army Number and/or Date of Birth
I see no reason for ruling it out by paying to see if they have some Records if you are really interested in finding out his Service.
He may have been on Reserve or Called Up in WW2 in which case they'd have possibly those Records as well.

Perhaps "expert" was the wrong word - he was a professional researcher. It is all very complicated and I think I will leave it to my descendants!
We did get the records for my father-in-law, which were quite extensive, maybe because he re-joined.
