Blimey ....   I suppose that is one possibility Lizzie!
So ...  the William Havers could've died, and his widow Eleanor (recorded as Elizabeth Havers) could've remarried this Samuel Townsend?
I'll look into that at the weekend.
I must admit, I gave up trying to track what happened to the daughter Elizabeth.  Too many options! But I will try and trace her properly next time I sit at the computer for a good session!
Thank you for your help.
Paul

Yes, Lizzie is absolutely right, well spotted. The Gillingham Towns(h)end baptisms are to Samuel and Eleanor, apart from the first son Samuel b1742 to Samll and Eliz: The second entry, for Thomas, in 1746 is transcribed as to Samuel and Eleanor on FreeReg but actually in the original register Eliz: has been corrected to Eleanor.

Well done for finding Thomas's baptisms. I had found Samuel's baptism and was starting to doubt Elizabeth was really Eleanor, as the mother was said to be Elizabeth.

I only found that marriage because I was looking for the daughter Elizabeth Haver's marriage and saw the bride was a widow. So it gives a time frame for William Havers's death now.

There are banns read in Gillingham in 1773 for a Samuel Townsend widower and Mary Everet single woman of Beccles. Could be the son Samuel who'd been widowed young of course.

They married in Beccles. There's also a marriage of a Thomas Townsend and a death of a Caleb Townsend in Beccles around the same time. Are Thomas and Caleb, Samuel and Eleanor's sons? The names fit.

Wow ....  thank you everybody.  There's lots to get my teeth into when I next sit down to all this!
The possible Elizabeth/ Eleanor/ Townsend thing might well explain some of it all.

Decided to have a look into this this evening (instead of watching the world cup!).
Looks as if you've solved it. Well done.
Also, I have to agree, the only burial that fits that particular William Havers dying between 1736 and 1741, is indeed the Norwich one.
I wonder why he was buried in Norwich and not locally?  I guess we'll never know that.
The only disappointing thing is, my tiny chance of a breakthrough as to the Havers ancestors of William Havers (married to Mary, having a family in Westhall) is well and truly shut down.
Back to the drawing board.
Thanks again everybody.  I do appreciate your replies.

Paul

Paul, what other information do have about this William HAVERS, married to Mary? RootsChatters may be able to help.
