Coal what?

Can anyone help with the circled occupation in the image please? He was described variously as a coal whipper and coal labourer in other documents, but I can't work out what the second word is here.

I'm not so sure Shaun. Comparing it with the "M" in Machinist below, I'm more inclined to think it's an "L". I'll go with a majority decision though!

How about Coal Meter? I found this regarding a description of Coal Whippers.

"It is carried on by gangs of nine, four work in the hold of the ship and fill the basket, four work on the ways, and whip the coal—that is, raise the basket to the top—and one, the basket man, turns it into the meter’s box."

Previously, this individual was described as a coal labourer or coal whipper. In 1881 he was described as a coal weigher, and coal meter seems to be another description for that job:

Coal-meter: usually a London based occupation, a licensed official responsible for measuring coal.

Edit: tonepad - you replied whilst I was typing. Thank you both. I'm happy with coal meter :)

The unusual way of writing 'e' is also in the top occupation which I read as Fish Salesman.
