Birth certificate
« on: Sunday 27 November 22 17:05 GMT (UK) »
I have noticed on some birth certificates that the time of birth has been recorded, but on this certificate there is a note which looks like 'Five (W W M)' Does anyone know what that might mean? Thank you for any help.

Difficult to say without seeing the whole document but one possibility is that the registrar has made some sort of alteration on this entry and the note refers to that.

If the registrars initials match with the W W M and there is some even slight alteration then that could be it.
NB the 'five' could be the cumulative number of alterations on the entire page, not just this entry OR it 'may' refer to the column no. the alteration in is - not too sure about that part.

Agree with Boo.
We need to see the full certificate.

This post would be better on the Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition board.

Ah, there is a crossing out. Thank you. I hadn't even thought of that. The registrar has even numbered it (5) and WWM were the initials of his name. Thank you for such a speedy, brilliant response.

It is a numbered correction, made whilst the entry was still being completed. It would be the fifth correction in that particular register book.
