Hi Neale1961
Agreed, however, gotta have it right...there is so much Info about, about the Indian stage of this story
very little about the German born 1797 stage and worked schoolteaching stage in Poland 1834ish and because its quite a tricky surname to spell I have found many/quite a few variations of the surname Luschwitz, Plus ..even though "to me" Clemenz is quite an unusual name in itself, it would be wonderful to be able to confirm using the attestation papers.
The Attestation papers will be the key...the absolute proof....

Its even been suggested to me that the real surname was Von Luschwitz...dont believe it!!!! however if the von translated to "FROM" Luschwitz then there is a place called Luschwitz in Lithuania.Be chuffed if one of the brilliant minds out there can find these papers as I cant.
Many Cheers Rick

hoping this might help

my Great Grandfather Joseph Henry (Harry) Luschwitz who emigrated to INDIA around the 1860s. I was trying desperately to find his place of birth and this note stated he was born  29th January (1840).
He came to India as Bandmaster and joined the 2nd Balouchi Regiment, married Mary Elizabeth Moore in 1869 in Bhuj, Gujarat and then served in Kanpur (Cawnpore) in the 2nd Kings Regiment.
I am unable to find his attestation papers when he joined the regiments which were British regiments in India at the time
