Carter family name
« on: Wednesday 30 November 22 22:34 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone, someone asked me if I could help with finding the resting place(s) of the two people below. I’ve searched around but not having any luck. I’m hoping the collective has more luck than me. I’ve searched local cemeteries and crematoria all with no luck!

 The details are-:

Edward William Carter (1920–1989)
Birth 26 FEB 1920 • Darlington, Co. Durham
Death 9 JUL 1989 • Billingham, Co. Durham

And his wife Mildred Elizabeth Carter née Cole (1915–1994)
Birth 16 OCT 1915 • South Shields, Co. Durham, England
Death 15 JAN 1994 • Billingham, Co. Durham, England.

Fingers crossed I may get some results. TIA.
Cheers paulmayuk

Have you bought a copy of Mildred's will (£1.50) in case it contains any info re burial/cremation?

Hi CaroleW yes it was purchased and 2 daughters were traced and contacted. One daughter didn’t know and the other daughter is, as yet, unresponsive. We shall see what happens.

Have you tried contacting the Billingham Council, bereavement department, to see if they have any records of their burials?  They will probably charge for this.

Other alternative is to locate newspapers for the period and area and see if any notice was entered.

Mildred died at Lunedale Rd Billingham. As there was only 5yrs between their deaths I am assuming Edward was the same address.

Strange the daughter who responded didn’t know whether her parents were buried or cremated.  I suspect cremation was more likely.

Have you already contacted both Stockton & Teeside Crematoriums?

Hi Carole, yes I agree with the daughter. Been in touch with both crematoria even others further afield. Strange one this one!
