c division signals

Hi,

I hope someone can help me my military knowledge is very poor - I have found a reference to an ancestor serving in the 'c division signals', stationed in India during 1924. 
Would this be the royal corps of signals or some other division?

Also I have his service number - how would I be able to find further info about his service history as I understand the Army personnel only provide info to the next of kin for this period.
