Benjamin Ainesworth married Sarah Cartwright 1788.

Hello there.
This has been a brickwall of mine for some time.
Benjamin and Sarah lived in Willenhall and Benjamin was a locksmith.
They married at St Peters Wolverhampton in 1788
Children Mary 1789 ,William 1791 ,Stephen 1794 ,Theodosia 1795 ,Charles 1797 ,Sarah 1802 ,John 1805 ,Benjamin 1808,Elizabeth 1810
I can't  find a baptism for Benjamin.

There is a 1758 marriage at Wolverhampton for Benjamin Aynesworth a soldier of this parish and Mary Isaacson .
Surely thy must be his parents.
There is a daughter Catherine buried at Bilston 1767 but no sign of any other children.

Any ideas?

There is the baptism of an Elizabeth Aynesworth 25.4.1764 death 23.12.1764 Birmingham Warwickshire with parents  Benjamin and Mary on FindMyPast

also John baptised 19.11.1759 at St Martin in the Bull Ring Birmingham (think the church is still there gone past it a few times) I cant get the original record to open to check Benjamins profession

Guess you have tried variations but my Ainsworth's were also Eynesworths/Einworths.

Hello Ciderdrinker,  my maternal grandfather was Benjamin Ainsworth, the name's come down through the family either as a first or middle name, the last being my uncle who died last year leaving no son to carry on the name on our line.

My gt. gt. gt. grandfather Stephen, birth estimated 1787,baptised 1794  married as Hainsworth in 1810 to Elizabeth Guy in Deritend.

I think Stephen is possibly the son of Benjamin and Sarah from Willenhall. On our line I've come across Hainsworth, Aynesworth, Hainsworth and Ensor, someone once said that Ainsworth could sound like Ensor in a local accent and with a few teeth missing!

Hello Ciderdrinker. Since my previous post I've discovered 'your' Stephen Ainsworth was christened 23 April 1794 and his burial 17 May 1794 both at St. Giles, Willenhall. oops!

I'm stuck now with Stephen Hainsworth who married Elizabeth Guy on 23 December 1810. I don't know where to go from there. I think it's my brickwall. Doesn't help with all the name variations, another I've come across is Hansworth.

His burial at St Paul
Stephen Aynesworth Sleaney st 20 Sep 1835 43years gives a birth 1792.
His banns in 1810 says he is of Bradford St Deritend age 21 and Elizabeth Guy is22 of the same.
Their children seem to be Ann 1811,Thomas 1816,Joseph 1820 ,William 1821,Henry 1828-30 ,Charles 1833 and Stephen James 1835.

Unfortunately Charlotte was a sister of Elizabeth and then married a MR Burr ,then Joseph Potter 30 May 1841 ,so no luck with the Ainesworths there.

Before that in 1798 Land Redemption tax list there is a J Ainesworth in St Martins Lane with a shop and stables,which he owns.1800 gives him as a saddler.
Also Ainsworth in Temple st tenant of a Inge esquire.
G Jones -Hainesworth Gt Charles St tenant of Inge Rsquire again.

But sorry but I'm just not spotting Stephen .If I had to guess I'd go for Joseph and Sarah Ainesworth who had children at Birmingham 1770-1796 but it would be a guess.
