William Crow 1707
« on: Friday 23 December 22 07:24 GMT (UK) »
Someone has set up a tree at Ancestry.com where it is claimed that William Crow, son of Charles Crow and Isabel née Corlett, was born in Okinawa on 19 June 1707.

It is most unlikely that Crow ever went anywhere near Japan, and certainly not on the day he was baptized at Lezayre.  I've made it a rule not to believe anything I read at fAnciestree.

By the way, I assume this is the same William Crow of Glanduff who married Jane Casement (circa 1711 - 1739) in 1731/2 and was buried at Lezayre in 1779 (I don't have a precise date).  Do let me know if I'm wrong.

The Okinawa may have been a typing mistake that was then copied from tree to tree; I see this frequently on Ancestry trees.

The 19th June 1707 baptism took place in Lazayre:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NY41-2H5

Going through the records methodically:

William Crow of Glion doo [sic] and Jane Casement of Kellicy in Lezayre married February 6th 1731 in Michael, Isle of Man.:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-X9J9-D5L?i=35&cc=1784428&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AX8S6-R29

Jane Casement Wife of William Crow Glanduff buried December 3rd 1739 in Lezayre.:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-655S-4TW?i=51&cc=1784428

There were 2 William Crows buried in Lezayre in 1779 according to the parish register:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-655S-488?i=146&cc=1784428&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AXZRJ-6XW

- Mr. William Crow, late of Liverpool, buried April 21st 1779.
- William Crow Senr. of Glenduff, buried December 21st 1779.

The website
http://www.isle-of-man.com/manxnotebook/famhist/willsums/index.htm
holds lots of brief summaries of Lezayre wills, and I can see lots of Crow wills, so definitely worth exploring this angle.

That would be Lezayre ;)

I used to live in Lezayre Road, Ramsey, IOM.
And drive through Lezayre many times during the 28 years I have lived on island!

The parish records of Lezayre at that time, don't mention a mother's name.
Available on Family Search.

Oops, a typo! And I mentioned typing mistakes in my first post on this thread... just shows how easy it is to do!  ;D

theres a deed, I'll provide the link below of a marriage contract between your William Crow and Jane Casement.   1732, appears to be the same couple.    his father is Charles Crow, his mothers name is not mentioned. Janes father is William Casement.  I find these deeds can have useful information.    the link is below and it is pages 55 through 58.  not sure if you have this information.

his mother is listed as Elizabeth Corlet as per his will below.
