Does anyone have any information on Thomas Reid (occupation attorney) and Caroline Saunders.  They had a son John in Middlesex England in 1847 who later emigrated to Australia.

What do you know already?
Do you have John's death certificate?
Do you have John's birth certificate?
What was the family's address? ('Middlesex' covers a very wide area).
Have you found them on the 1851 Census of England?
Where do Thomas and Caroline say they were born?
Do you know if they had any other children before John? That way you can make an estimate of when they were married.

Added:
I can find no baptism of a John Reid/Reed etc around 1847 with mother's maiden name Saunders, nor a marriage for a Thomas Reid to a Caroline Saunders.

OBITUARY.
MR. JOHN REID.
News of the death of a former old resident of Roma, Mr. John Reid, was received on Wednesday. Mr. Reid had arrived in Roma over 50 years ago, and in the early days had been engaged as mailman between Roma and Taroom.
In later years he was a well-known town carrier, and for many years had the contract for carting. mails between the Post Office and Railway. He re tired from active life about twenty years ago, and went to reside in Brisbane, where he passed away, aged 84 years. He leaves a family of five sons and three daughters most of whom have also left the district. Members of the family remaining in Roma are: Mr. Mat. Reid, and Mrs. C. Coutts, and Mrs. H. Schormann.

John REID married Elizabeth FENNESSY in Toowoomba QLD on 24 Oct 1877 (Roman Catholic marriage)

Details from the marriage cert:

John Reid, 25, bachelor, born London Middlesex,
parents Thomas Reid, attorney & Caroline Saunders.
John was a mailman at Taroom at the time of his marriage.

The ceremony was performed by Father Robert Dunne.
John signed his name, and Elizabeth made her mark.
Their witnesses were Henry Tillman and Johanna Moloney.

Getting a bit desperate I know but -- Is it worth looking at this family which does seem to have a few features in common?

In 1851 there is a family at North Street, Isleworth

John RYDE, 30, Lawyer b Kingston, Surrey
Amelia wife, 24, b Isleworth, Middlesex
Charlotte, dau, 8,  b Lee, Kent
John, son, 3, b Isleworth
Amelia, dau 2, b Isleworth
William son 10 mths, b Isleworth
Amelia SAUNDERS mother in law 59, Widow, formerly greengrocer’s wife b Hammersmith.


The father of Amelia nee SAUNDERS  was according to marriage cert, Thomas, a Baker.
There is another marriage of a Caroline SAUNDERS May 16th 1841 to Thomas GODDARD, a Gardener.  Caroline’s father Thomas SAUNDERS a baker.

Although the RYDE family can be found in other censuses I do not see John (b 1848) with them
