Finding a family member surname Warr
« on: Thursday 05 January 23 10:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi everybody,

I would like some help please I have a Edwin Charles Warr born 1863 it say in sturminster newton dorset, but I cant find no record for his birth I know that he married a Sarah Elmes 21 .2. 1887 in Tyneham Dorset , On marriage cert his dad is down as Charles Warr labourer. In 1871 census he is with his mum Elizabeth now married to a James Elsworth, then in 1861 his mum Elizabeth is a widower, then in 1851 Elizabeth is married to a George Warr, he was born 1821 & dies in 1858 .

So I need to find who Edwin Charles Warr dad is , so I can trace that family and what happened to Edwins dad

I also found a marriage for George Warr born 1821 Pulham to a Elizabeth Eustance marriage 6.11.1848 in Pulham Dorset.

Thanks for any help

As George Warr born c1821 was buried at Pulham 23 Apr 1858 Edwin cannot be his son.  It is likely that his father could be a 'Charles' but possibly not a 'Warr'

Hello
The marriage in 21 Feb 1887 Tyneham
Edwin Charles Warr 24 batchelor labourer Steeple s of Charles Warr labourer
Sarah Elmes 22 spinster Tyneham of Charles labourer
Edwin signed with a x wit George Elmes and Emma Murrry.

1871 Census Belchawell
James Elsworth 42 ag lab Stoke Wake
Elizabeth wife 50 Ibberton
John Warr 19 lab lodger Pulham
Louisa Warr daughter 15 glovess Pulham
Edwin Warr 9 scholar Sturminster Newton
William j Elsworth 3 son Belchawell

1881 Bumblecombe Farm House Chesilborne and Edwin is now an Elsworth.
James Elsworth married Elizabeth Warr widow at Hazelbury Bryan 6 .5.1866 .Fathers James Elsworth blacksmith and Jonathon Paddock labourer
This looks like the family 1861 at Sturminster
Elizabeth Warr widow 40 farm servant Ibberton
Ann 10 scholar Pulham
Johanathon 9 Pulham
Martha 7
Luzia/Louisa 5
Emily 2  Hzaelbury

1851 Pulham
George Warr 30 ag labb Pulham
Elizabeth 31 glovess Ibberton
Ann 3 months.
The first marriage was 6.11.1848 Pulham
George Warr bach lab Pulham George lab
Elizabeth Hastance spinster servant Pulham Jonathon Paddock lab
wit Harriet Warr and James Paddock.

So George Warr had died long before Edwin Charles Warr was born.He was burried at Pulham 23 April 1858 age 37 years of Hartmoor.

There is an Edwin Charles Carter registered at Sturminster June 1862 mother's maiden name Paddock .
This may well be him.It is the only child in the are with that combination of surnames. And there is no sign of him afterwards.
Sorry to duplicate some of it.

Hi

That does sound like him as the surname is right Paddock . I know that Elizabeth Hastance (warr, Paddock) was born 3 months before her mum married Johnathon Paddock

Thanks Alison
