His baptism ,on July 5th 1831, gives his parents as William  and Mary. William was s tinsmith

There is an 1841 entry for a 10yr old Edwin Hughes living Henllan Denbighshire - parents John & Catherine.  John was a sawyer

He died in Blackpool - do you have a copy of his marriage cert showing his fathers name?

In 1911 he is a military pensioner b Wrexham living with relatives in Blackpool

In 1901 he is a shoemaker b Wrexham living in Worcestershire

In 1891 he is “living on own means” in Warwickshire with wife Annie 58 b Salop & their 2 adult children

The baptism that I found with parents William and Mary gives the address as Mount Street.

Henllan is about 30 mls from Wrexham.

The 1841 for Wrexham is not online. it was lost.

Daughter Mary Gertrude b 1862 - birth reg shows Annie was nee Pearce & they married 1859 in Liverpool

Marriage was 21.2.1859 & Edwin was a corporal in the Eighth Dragoons.  His father was William occ Tin plate worker which is an exact match to the baptism found by Gadget above & rules out the other Edwin Hughes

I had a look at the military record and it looked a possible

There are 2 records for a marriage of a William and  Mary in Wrexham - 1828 to Mary Edwards and 1817 to Mary Jones.

I've not checked William and Mary on censuses.

I've found the family in the special transcriptions of the 1841 Census for Wrexham Town(Clwyd FHS):


Wrexham Regis, Eagles Meadow, ? off Salop Street.

Mary, 14

Jane, 7
All born County

So maybe the 1817 marriage is  possible.
