Checking transcript please
« on: Saturday 07 January 23 03:58 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Attached is part of a parish register for Cam in Gloucestershire.  I would just like to check the Ancestry.com transcript.  It is the 3rd entry for November and starts Joseph ye son of ........ Bendall.  Could anyone tell me his father's name please.
Thanks.

'Isaack' Bendall

Just to check, can you see anywhere else on the page where the scribe has used a long 's' that looks like this one?
Ah. Found one - in Joseph's name - you can see it's the same long hooked letter.
What did Ancestry transcribe it as?

At this point in time, a capital "I" and a capital "J" were the same letter.
You can see the first letter of Joseph's name is the same, and in the surname in the entry above of 'Ifield'.

Many thanks.  Ancestry did have Isaack but I just couldn't see it.  Thanks for your time and comments.
