Elusive Ancestors
« on: Wednesday 11 January 23 06:39 GMT (UK) »
Elizabeth Osborn (marriage 1872-Bethnal Green to Joseph Overton my Great Grandfather) by her age at marriage born 1853- their is an Elizabeth Osborn born 1853 in Bethnal Green- however this  mother Jane was married to a William Osborn- so could have been William John or mistake on marriage Certificate- so looking for proof - went to Janes other childrens marriages looking at witness names also  Overton marriages- looking for their names to see if there was any connection before they married - the only connection I can find is they both seem to be non-conformists-I have been on BMD and looking at other Elizabeth Osborns born 1853-1854 and cant seem to find a way forward in any direction- went to the 1871 census looking for a John Osborn with a daughter Elizabeth- I dont seem to get any joy- where else to look- I need some expertise on this- thanking you so much for your help

So we need to find a marriage for Jane Craig if there is one, to ascertain her husbands full name , I can see where you are coming from as in census he is John, but some of his children baptisms name him as Willian

Thank you all so much for your input but I know all this history of William Osborn and Jane Craig- what I wanted to know if  their youngest daughter Elizabeth could be my Elizabeth Osborn who married Joseph Overton in 1872 at Bethnal Green- I have exhausted all census etc., looking at family member marriages to see if they could have been witnesses before they were married - to see if I can tie them together as their is only speculation at this time-  I thought  I may see if there would be any write ups in local papers - as especially Deaths would normally have been advertised  locally in that day and age- so I will have to look at that- but wanted to know if anyone could think of something I had not done in order to proceed- the only thing that connects them at the moment is non conformist marriages- as Josephs line goes back to the Hugeunots- thank you once again for all  the work you have put into this- from kathy
