Are you using the Bishops Transcripts on Family Search?

Hi Gadget, actually I found a Will reference to a probate record.
p193-194   23 March 1831
registered copy of will; Samuel GOWEN, farmer, common brewer, of West Thriston in the parish of Felton in the county of Northumberland. Died 1832. Then a search on Findmypast for Samuel turned up his father and it lead on to several other Gowens etc. I have become quite cautious of Familysearch, esp the trees. The records are OK, but I use it after FindMyPast and Durhamrecordsonline etc. But as I say, I did not turn up Catherine yet, but at least there is a lead.

The Bishops Transcripts are copies of original records from the Durham diocese.

Add - In addition to the 'usual' sites. I use Durham Records Online:

It sounds like we use the same stuff to lookup. I have a DRO subscription and FMY. I do use familysearch, but am just getting used to looking at images.
Thanks for the tips.
