Name in 1686/87 marriage register

Good afternoon,

I am having problems deciphering the first name of Mr. Collyer in the attachment fot All Saint's, Cawthorne.

Mr.  Collyer and Elizabeth Armitage married, January the 9th

Family search have it as Wiliad. Could be Wiliard.

It's Wiliam, with a contraction mark instead of the 'm'. There are other examples on the page, the clearest one being next to the 'Mr' lower down.

(I've no idea why Wiliam was written like this while the '-am' of Abraham was written in full.)

yes, under Burialls, there's two more Wiliam with the same contraction on the 'm'.
One 'l' in Wiliam.

The bride’s name appears to be Elizabeth Armstrong rather than Armitage.

No, I don't think it is - eg other s's are quite big with loops.
