You name a son Frederick born 1904 New York also a son Reece. Were they 2 sons or a Frederick Reece.
I'm curious because there's an interesting Pooler family tree on Ancestry which also has a Winifred Jones and a John
Davies. Born Wales. Living in New York.

It's probably not your family but just an example of how common names can cause confusion.

So... if this is  your family then the 1900 NY census has
John Davies b 1871 Wales  married 5 years
Winifred b 1877. Wales married 5 years.
Alice b 1898 NY
William b 1899 NY.

The Pooler tree also has Winifred arriving in US in 1888, so presumably with her family. Marriage in 1895.
The inquest into her death in 1912 has her mother named as Laura H Jones

But how did you come back to Maurice Jones to start with.

hi thank you. i am in north wales u/k. with the groups help we found maurice in the 1881 census with winifred. it looked right because of the dates and the locations here in north wales. thanks. avril

On 6 August 1912 Mrs Winifred Jones Davies drowned in a boating accident., she was 35 years old had been separated from her husband for 6 years. She was working at the House of Good Shepherd Home as a cook . The janitor at the same place was missing in the lake.

Family mentioned  are Mrs Laura  M Jones mother. Nellie , Mary and Gladys Jones ,and Mrs John P Evans - sisters, Will Davies eldest son.
Winifreds children were Alice, Willis, Laura, Fred and Lawrence.

In 1910 US census John Davies b 1871 Wales, Winifred b 1877 Wales . Alice 2 and William 6 months are at Utica Ward, Onelda, New York.
Winifred Jones married John Davies in 1895 in New York
