Have you not looked at census entries from 1861 - 1911 for her birthplace?

I know where she was born but there is some writing above the place of birth and I cannot read it. Father's occupation is fisherman .

Yes that's right but I wondered if it gave the ships name.

There is a Mary MacKenzie living with a Mary Matheson between the 1861 and 1871 censuses in Latheron. She is showing as niece. In 1861, she shows as being born in Roster, Latheron (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roster,_Caithness). 1871, just Latheron.

Could this be the word you are trying to read (Roster)?

What did it say regarding her parents on her 1879 marriage to Robert Sutherland? Were they showing as still alive?
