'B.CAM' qualification - what is it ?
« on: Friday 27 January 23 16:35 GMT (UK) »
I'm researching a lady who, at her marriage in 1933, had the letters "M.A, B.CAM" after her name.

M.A. is obviously Master of Arts.

But what is B.CAM ?

I can't find any mention online of this at all.
I tried contacting Cambridge University, thinking CAM might be 'Cambridge', but it's not one of theirs.

Any ideas ?

Thanks for the suggestion, Sandra.

But not in 1933.

Have you found her in the 1939 register?  If so what does it give for her occupation?  I assume that the B.CAM is very clear and not possible to be something else.

What was her occupation on her marriage certificate?  Any clues there?

There is a degree called BCom which is Bachelor of Commerce.  Is that a likely degree for the 1930s?

I also wonder if it’s actually B. Com.
I can see references in some 1930’s newspapers to B. Com degrees.

One of my teachers had a B.Com degree and it must have been awarded in the 1930s, given his age.  Which university did she attend?

BCom was previously offered in the UK.
The Bachelor of Commerce degree was first offered at the University of Birmingham.
Now known as Birmingham Business School, and started in 1901.
