an entry for George with matching date of birth in Birmingham on the 1939 register. He appears to be in the workhouse

Possible burial 17 Dec 1952 George Harbridge age 75 Gillingham Kent. He died in St Bart's Hospital, Rochester.

Baptism gives his father as George, was the family RC?

As Carole has suggested he could be nephew to head of household in 1921

This is great! I'm unsure as to whether the family were Roman Catholic or not. The other siblings of George Harbidge didn't have Catholic marriages/birth records.

On the 1921 census there are only 2 names on it. George is listed as a boarder and then another George (age 13)is listed as nephew. I thought it was unusual not to have the head of household listed on it.

In 1921 - have you checked for others living at the same address

Just checked for the address in the 1921 census. There was a separate form filled in. George's sister Elizabeth (married name Dodd) lives at the same address so it looks like George was boarding with his son (also George) at his sister's house.

He married & died as Reuben Verdun Harris.  The fact he was registered under both surnames may suggest his fathers name could be on his Harris birth cert

Hello
WW1 pensions on Fold 3
William Joseph Harris Royal Fusiliers 148283
His widow or dependent is
Margaret Rose Harbridge unmarried.

So it looks like Reuban was his child.

There is a possible 1939 entry for Margaret Rose Harris born4  July 1887  in Newtown Row widow and death as Margaret Catherine Harris otherwise Margaret Rose 17 New Town Row Aston widow 6 May 1958 .Admin to Reuban Verdun Harris wood dust merchant £3684.

Hope that helps

ps George and Margaret's marriage was at St Chads which was Roman Catholic.-10.3.1906

The Sutton Coldfield News, 1 July 1950, reported a court case where Reuben Verdun Harris, Newton Row, was fined for speeding.

Later newspaper reports, Jun 1972, give his address as 61 Meriden Drive, Kingshurst.
