Birth lookup Dublin

Unfortunately the only information I hold is :-

John Frederick Keaney born 1851 Dublin. Father was John Frederick Kearney I belive a well known Attorney at Law and the mother was Ellen.

That's all I have, can anyone help please.

Hi,

Have you checked the Dublin Directories for him around 1851?
Attorneys usually gave an address and you can then find the local (Anglican) church and check their parish records (if they survive)

I did not know there was any such thing as Dublin directories. Are these trade directories? How can I access them?

Hi,

They are trade directories crossed with an almanac. Published every year from about 1841 or so, some earlier. Someone said they have some on film at the family history centres but I can't confirm it. I look at the ones in the Dublin City Archives and the National Library.
