Burradon electoral register 1930s for Robert Reay Gibbison Family
« on: Tuesday 31 January 23 10:23 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I am hoping to find if Robert Reay Gibbison born 1904 and sister Gertrude born 1906 and their parents Ellen(Nellie) born 1866 and John Thomas born 1864 were living at Burradon Farm Northumberland from 1931-1938? ..They were farm workers and lived at Burradon farm in 1939 - it would be a huge help if anyone knows as it’s a huge mystery which would help locate where my grandmother Gertrude daughter was placed into a children’s home. Thankyou

Welcome to Rootschat  :D

I see that they lived in the Longbenton district in the 1939 Register.  It may be worth contacting the local library to ask if they have any electoral rolls for the 1930s.

Welcome from me too

I see the daughter is living with her mother & uncle in 1939.  What information do you have that she was in a childrens home prior to 1939

Welcome to RootsChat.

If you haven't already done so, you might try Northumberland and Durham Family Historical Society. The link is: https://www.ndfhs.org.uk/

You might find something here, too: http://www.ndfhs.org/pdfs/unwanted-certificates.pdf

Good luck with your search.

Peter

The last sentence is confusing...

Do you mean 'Gertrude daughter' of John Thomas & Ellen/Nellie or Gertrude's daughter?

Thankyou very much everyone for helping out :) I really appreciate it. We got intouch with North Shields library and the lady there was very helpful - we found out that they were living at High Weetslade Farm cottages from 1931-1938 ans then Burradon Farm cottages then back to high weetslade farm cottages.
Moreen Gibbison born 1930 was my grandmother, she was the daughter of Gertrude Gibbison and family history talk was that Moreen was placed in a children’s home but we don’t know for how long only that her grandmother Ellen got her back out of it and because they were in the Dudley area over those years we now think that Moreen must of been in a children’s home around there and Ellen died in 1943 . Because Moreen was with them on the 1939 register she was with them before the age of 9 anyway. Apparently she went to Dudley first school so hopefully we can find a school record or photo . Thankyou
