Have 1858 Dumfries marriage cert for Robert Robison 26 and Jane Beck 29.
Roberts parents are shown as Robert Robison and Mary ?
Unable to decypher mother's name, may be Harrison or Morrison.Any help would be appreciated as this is preventing completion of a seven generation fan chart.
Galloway family originating Ayrshire then Lochmaben Dumfrieshire but also in Dumfries,Saltcoats,Ayrshire.Other Dumfriesshire surnames of Richardson,Clarke,Carlyle McIlwraith.Laidlaw from Crawford.Robertson and Taylor ,Buchan originating Banff and Peterhead and Fraserburgh.Ayrshire names of Keegans,Goudie and Galt.

Do you have them on the 1861 census showing his birthplace? 

Have you looked for his birth on Scotlands People as it will show mothers maiden name?  If he died in Scotland his death cert will show parents details

Have you looked for parents marriage on Scotlands People?

If all else fails - scan the bit with her name on it & post it here

Baptism Place:   Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom
Father:   John Robison
Mother:   Margaret Ferguson

Could this be him?

Post says father was Robert & mother was Mary

Although marriage was in Dumfries - we don't know whether he was born there or elsewhere

Have trawled scotlands people extensively with all likely variants withot success.

English 1841 has a Robert Robison aged 11 b Cumberland - mother is Mary but no father shown

Also an entry b 1832 Nottingham - parents Robert & Mary both b Scotland - Robert was a tea dealer

What was his fathers occ on the 1858 marriage cert?
