Administration Grant in Latin 1711 - need help reading some words
« on: Thursday 02 February 23 23:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm dealing with a grant of Administration written in Latin in very poor handwriting combined with a poor quality document and need help deciphering the writing of a few words.  I've attached a screenshot and highlighted the troublesome words in yellow.  There are two words that are repeated in this excerpt but the other 7 words appear only once.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi, Bookbox,

Thank you so much for providing your expertise to my document.  I find this Clerk's penmanship to be challenging and your contribution has shown up where I'm confusing his 'l' for 's', 't' for 'l' and 'a' for 'e' and so on.  This is a tremendous help.

I am attaching another snip with the remainder of the words that have me stumped.  I would be so very grateful if you would help me with these words, too.

Hi, Bookbox,

Thank you, again, so very much for deciphering these words for me.  Again, my difficulties with this clerk's penmanship came to light.  The words "fecit se" I had seen as "feirtle", which, of course, isn't a Latin word at all.  "Abintestato" I couldn't discern at all.  This is so helpful.  Thank you.

You're welcome. It does help if you know what to expect in this sort of context, but I agree it's a horrid hand!
