so - is David Guest a bit of a Tom Pepper ?  did he lie about his father - as Girl Guide found - David Guest b 1879 - mmn Guest - I think Girl Guide has it right - he was illegitimate and didn't know who his father was - but we will never know ?

The David Guest son of David and Hannah appears with his parents in early censuses but I haven't tried following him into later censuses to see if he might be the right one.

I seen your reply Annie - just pointing out Jane stayed a Boden  - usually took the new husbands surname..ie - Jane never became Jane Guest

I'd be tempted to get the birth cert of the David born 1879. I know that the GRO has the mother's maiden name as Guest (or maybe no father) and this wouldn't fit with the David/Hannah marriage, but it's possible that there's an error on the cert. I've seen that happen before.

He married Annie GUEST in 1913, date of birth 11 Oct 1889.  Their youngest child was born in 1927.
