Hi,

Can anyone help with the following? Cheers.

So far I have:

Police Department

My dear Sir,

As there is now at Westbury
a considerate body of convicts, and
the constables from the ? of the
district ? wide from head
quarters i request that a guarded of
military of the usual strength of a
sergeant and ? ? may
be ordered to proceed to Westbury
there to be stationed.

Believe me my dear sir
Yours respectfully

district distributed wide from head
quarters i request that a guard of
military of the usual strength of a
sergeant and twelve privates may
be ordered to proceed to Westbury
there to be stationed.

Thanks for that.

Yes very tricky indeed. Unfortunately, these are the "easier" ones. I have some that have 3 different handwritings written across the letter.

I'll leave those ones for later I think haha

I just modified the above, I think it's "twelve privates" after sergeant.  :D

I think it is
the constables from the returns nature [not sure about this] of the

ETA On the minute in the second hand I think the first sentence/word is the same as the last word by the signature. 
If you think about it operating in this way
a person/officer will write-up a request (in this case the longer paras)
depending on whether they have the authority they may send it off without further ado. In some cases they may not have the authority or feel that it would 'pack more punch' if they sent it up to their superior officer.
This action is called minuting
The person up the chain may just sign or initial to say they agree (or not) and may add some words in support. 

This is what the second shorter piece is.

I did wonder last night whether the first word of the 2nd page was the same as the signature.  :-\
