Eilleen,
translation will follow, but for now only the french text.
I'm struggling to read the place where he was held prisoner after disappearing during flight. I guess it's somewhere outside France, because afterwards he was repatriated. Do you, by chance, know this place (from other sources in your possession)?

Zefiro,

This is where I got his service record  from   https://en.geneanet.org/archival-registers/view/887401/188?individu_filter=20845032

there appears to be 3 pictures of the records for Pierre , because some have other bit of paper pasted on at later dates.

your help is amazing , I would be getting no where without your time and effort,

The little bits pasted down from word of mouth, years ago,

sort of chateau for officers,

Pierre would get the men to go out and roll in the snow to keep morale up   :)

I have been through postcards and letters but no place it popping up yet,

I will keep looking .

Zefiro,

just spoke to His Grandson,

He remembers being told that Pierre was over Northern France when shot down,

that He went to a military hospital and then an prisoner of war camp for officers in Germany .

Mail was dropped by plane for him.

hope that helps .

Solved it ;D
He was reported prisoner at Mayence, the German city known as Mainz.
The capital M is not an easy one to recognize, and I mistook a Y (or is it a J) for a G.
