Distant family search
« on: Friday 24 February 23 14:21 GMT (UK) »
Hi, i was wondering if anyone may have information on family members that emigrated from the uk way back in 1883.  joseph woodall along with his wife eleanor and his four youngest children Sarah aged 7, Arthur aged 3, Alice aged 2 and John aged 1. I do know that Joseph wife Eleanor passed away a short while after they arrived and Joseph re-married twice again before his death in 1917 and was laid to rest in Aukland. Any information no matter how small would be much appreciated in particular the fate of his children.
Many thanks

Hi there Peter,

Just to confirm, which part of England were they from and what was Eleanor's maiden name?
Any possiblity Eleanor had family in NZ who might have taken the kids in?
I can't see them arriving in 1883 - only a Josehp and Ellen with older children.

I think this is the family you have in 1881 Staffordshire www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q27F-FQCG

The ages you quote were from the 1881 census. Joseph showing as a widower at this time?

Joseph's wife is showing as Ann on the 1871 census www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5YQ-41X

Joseph might not be a widower? Ann shows with him in 1891 www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5YQ-41X Likely marriage for Joseph Woodhall to an Ann BRADLEY, Dudley 1859 1st Qrt, 6c/32.

Can you provide more details on the Joseph Woodall you have?

Added: So, not the correct Joseph. A brief bio for the correct Joseph here  www.findagrave.com/memorial/132530327/joseph-woodall

I think so too, heywood  :)

You need to subscribe to be able to view, but if you do, there is a family tree for Joseph and Jane (Jones) here www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/150847910/person/182085135783/facts Some details on their children.

Joseph Woodall and Ellen Castree are on the same page.
