Could you tell me my Grandfather William Charles Matthew Farr b1895 d1958 was a glassblower and lived in Clapton, i have been trying to trace if he was in world war 1 and i cannot find anything.

Around 70% of WW1 service records were destroyed
during the blitz so lucky if you find one.
However I'll take a look at what there is & check back.

He was born June Quarter 1896 Hackney Volume 1c  page 598 Mother's Maiden Name = Dilworth
He Died Age 62 in December Quarter 1958 Hackney Volume 5c page 696

He was born June qtr 1896

His son - William Charles Thomas Farr was baptised on 8.4.1917 & William senior is shown as a glassblower - no mention of any service rank

The 1918 electoral roll has just 1 William Farr living in Hackney
but not listed as absent as men serving were.
What's his wife's name & was he married by 1918.

Marriage 1916 - Wife was Mary Ann - child baptised 1917 - see above

He Married Mary A Reader in Hackney September Quarter 1916
Had Son William Charles Thomas Farr in April 1917
And another Son Fred Leonard Farr in March Quarter 1919
So he was Home 9 months Earlier in June 1918
So unlikely he served Overseas if in the Forces
He would be the Only Eligible to Vote in 1918

He was born 21 May 1896 per 1939 Register and Two more Children
A Daughter 1921 and a Daughter 1925
