Is Jacob wearing a bow tie in the other photo ?

CR10s are the central index cards to the Register of Seamen.

C.R.10 cards are Merchant Navy records which form part of the Fourth Register of Seamen otherwise known as the Central Index Register. This series was a special index created by order of the Defence of the Realm Act 1918. The cards were introduced in 1918 and dropped in 1921. The cards usually but not always show a photo of the seaman.

Yes, he is wearing a bow tie in the other photo.

Actually he has 1 x CR 10 card, 2 x CR1 cards and importantly 1 x CR2 card which show his service up to 1940 so he actually served in both wars.

I don't know where he was in 1921 but he was still in Newport from his marriage in 1926 until his death in 1954


The ship numbers mentioned in the above link relate to the following ships.

121011 – GERMANIC – 9.12.1919
121011 – GERMANIC – 1.1920 
120645 – WILLESDEN – 6.1920
143110 – WITHINGTON – 5.8.1921

I would keep any MN information on this thread rather than mix the two up.
