Thanks, I thought it was but that first letter looks odd and FindMyPast have it transcribed as Staunton.

Naunton, and blind, and a pensioner, ties in with this army record for Richard Beacham who lost his sight when blasting a rock in "America" in 1819. He told the army he was 29 in 1813 but could have been older.
