Journeyman What? (COMPLETED)
« on: Friday 24 March 23 00:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm looking at this record for John Cook for 1851.

I can't make out his occupation. I get that the first word says journeyman, but I can't make out the second word.

Household schedule number   75
Piece   2368
Folio   168
Page number   25

Unfortunately, the only other census records I have for him just say labourer, but I don't think that's the second word here.

Thank you
;D Doing my best, but frequently wrong ;D
:-* My thanks to everyone who helps me, you are all marvellous :-*

Could it be “malster”?
It has been written in a different hand from Journeyman.
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)

There is a John Cook, brewer, of the right age in the 1841 census - Piece: 1265  Book: 15  Folio: 37 Page: 8
The wife is Elizabeth, and has a daughter Eliza of a matching age (plus a whole lot more children!)

Could be the same fellow?
