One word in Latin in Inventory exhibit statement - hoc?
« on: Wednesday 29 March 23 01:57 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have one word in a Latin Inventory exhibit statement that I am unsure of and need a second opinion, please.  I've attached the whole of the statement and highlighted the one word.  I see it as "hoc" but the stroke above it makes me think the word is a contraction of some other word.

Any help gratefully received.  Thank you.

Yes, it's hoc. Standard phrase in the presentation of an inventory.

The word is probably huiusmodi, but the meaning is the same as if it were hoc.

Watson is correct. I shouldn't try to answer queries so early in the morning!

Thank you Bookbox and Watson,

I am going to go with "huiusmodi" as that would make sense with the presence of the line over top of the letters.  For the life of me I couldn't think of what it could be.  Silly me.

Your combined assistance is greatly appreciated.
