I guess you know that Septimus is in reference to his birth order. 7th.
Some times you see Octavius who is eighth in the birth order.
and
Decimus to 10th in birth order.

In those days of large families some families kept these number names in reserve or to use again when a son/daughter say had there own family

I could be wrong, but I think the Lavinia sailed to Fremantle from Adelaide in 1886 It had sailed to Adelaide from Mauritius. It was not coming from the UK.

Thanks shanreagh for that information.  Very helpful.

Also thanks to maddys52. I'm planning to do a long search for the Lavinia's movements. All of this information is incredibly helpful. Thanks.

Peter

.
1897 Died in Melbourne. His death certificate records him as single with no issue, but there is no
        record of a divorce.

What was his exact address at death?
Who was the informant?
What was the cause of death?

Hi
Wivenhoe will of course make his own response to your last post.

I inquire about the death certificate in hopes it might shed light on his life activity in the last few years.  He was clearly not with his wife at the time.

If you do not want the search  to take that approach, that's fine.. Just a thought. ;D

Everything on a document is useful to your research.

Names of witnesses will be useful....might be close or near family.

Signature on a document will be useful to compare if another document looks to be a connection.

Address, ages, occupations are useful to know. Newspaper findings for the same address might lead to a family connection.

Wife Rosa married five years after husbands death.

What was cause of death?.

Trauma death might see an inquest.

Chronic illness means that the person was unable to work and needed support. So how was family being supported.

Who was informant for the death certificate?

Where was he buried?

What other burials in the same plot?

Hi Sue.

I understand that. I just couldn't see the connection between those details and what I'm looking for. I'll await wivenhoe's reply for clarification.

Thanks.

Peter

Hi wivenhoe.

Understood. I won't be able to get to my computer for several hours.

Stay tuned.!
