Also, from my in laws family there was a great connection between Scandinavian countries  and the Hull Grimsby area of England as fisherfolk fished across the north Atlantic between these two places.  Often the crews met and married women from Scandinavia. 
In my case Denmark. 

In my family this continued down several generations. My mother in law had cousins in Denmark, as did her mother, Nany, all from marriages from Grimsby with Danes.

I am of the same opinion as you, I do know of two families who had connections to Denmark and also Norway through the fishing industry.
One day I may be able to connect her to a family in Hull.
