Omitted text, and suggested corrections to dates, places, names etc., are in red below.

=====
In the name of God Amen the 15th of July 1491
I John Chaloner of the parish of Lindfield senior being of perfect mind and memory do make this my present testament.
He leaves his soul to God the Father, the Blessed Virgin Saint Mary and all the saints
To be buried in the chancel of St John the Baptist in the church of All Saints Lindfield
To the high altar of Lindfield church for forgotten or neglected tithes, 5 shillings
To the high altar of Malling, 12d
To the lights of Lindfield church, 4d
Residuary legatee: John Chaloner the son
Executors: John Chaloner the son, Richard Culpeper, esquire
Witnesses: Thomas Goding, Richard Lymynden, John Fuller and others [alijs = others]
Given at Lindfield, day and year as above

Proved at Lambeth, 26th January 1491/2, by the oath of William Potkyn, procurator, administration granted to John Chaloner, the executor

=====
Note the year of probate is 1491/2 (= 1492 in the modern calendar).
I think it is doubtful John Chaloner who died in 1491/2 is the same man who held land in Ardingly in 1424, assuming he was then an adult.

Many thanks for all of that.  You are quite right I had the wrong John Chaloner.  It was one of these two neither of whom could have held land that early.

John Chaloner of Lindfield had two sons: Thomas Chaloner II of Hurstpierpoint d.3 January 1481 (c.John Chaloner) and John Chaloner of Lindfield.
John Chaloner died 26 January 1492

John Chaloner of Lindfield a yeoman married and had one daughter and two sons: John Chaloner II, Richard Chaloner of Lindfield buried in Church of Lindfield (c.Joan chaloner, Robert Chaloner, Lewys Chaloner) d.19 March 1500 WILL, Joan Chaloner (m.John Thatcher, son of John Thatcher of Ringmer).
John Chaloner of Lindfield Snr. died 15 July 1491 to be buried in Lindfield Church

Nga mihi nui (very best wishes)
