Hubert Fasha Grenville Floyd
« on: Monday 10 April 23 09:57 BST (UK) »
Good Morning All! I have a question regarding my Grandfather Hubert Fasha Grenville Floyd. Apparently I have recently found out, he was a bigamist  :( I have tried looking at old newspapers to see if it went to court but have come up empty handed. If there is anyone on here that is a relative or can access sites I can't, I would love some information. Thank you all in advance :)

Could you give us a bit more information please such as who were his wives and when did he marry them?

We need to establish if and when his first wife passed away or if there was a divorce etc

What exactly have you found out to suggest all was not above board?

Was he born in 1909 or?

There is a 1933 marriage to Margaret I Trestrail

They are still together on electoral registers up to when he died in 1972 so is this the right person?

"I have recently found out, he was a bigamist"

How have you come by this information?.

If it has been uncovered by research then it might not have been known of during his lifetime.

He married my Nan Magaret Isabel Trestrail in 1933. She is the only one I knew about. I matched a half cousin through DNA matches and she told me about the bigamy. I did ask her for more information but I was brushed off so didn't message her again. K Garrad, you may have something there, but I can see that he died in 1953, my grandad died in 1972. He could possibly made a change to his name. Maybe I need to get a copy of that marriage certificate.

So you think he was married before 1933?

The marriage certificate (if accurate) would say if he was a bachelor or a widower.

The 1939 Register has a Margaret Floyd with a Joan Etta Margaret and a Leslie with her.  No sign of Hubert with them.  Living in Worcestershire.

I have found a print out of their marriage certificate and it says he is a bachelor.
