Struggling with death details in Falkirk
« on: Monday 10 April 23 16:16 BST (UK) »
The attached clip refers to the death of my 4x great-aunt, Euphan Sneddon, who died 04 Jun 1873 in the Falkirk area. Try as I may I cannot decipher the locus or the cause of death.
I can make out 'decay' in the cause of death column but that's it.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

James

I agree that the cause of death is "Natural decay, as cert by Alex. W. McFarlane MB, Polmont"

However, the location is eluding me! It looks like "XXX, Park of XXXX."

As Euphan died in 1873, have you found her on the 1871 census in case she is in the same place?

Best wishes

Grangemouth is the place of death, with Park of XXXX written underneath.

There is a very old post here re a marriage in the 1870s www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=617530.0

This has Arnothill (thanks to GR2) and then the same wording as we have here. Does read more to me as Park of xxxxxll   :-\

In the place name above I can see I think Xumxxx and maybe St.

Euphemia Sneddon died in Falkirk Landward area. I was looking at place names there from the Ordanance Survey books 1858-61 but failing to see anything so far https://scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/digital-volumes/ordnance-survey-name-books/stirlingshire-os-name-books-1858-61/stirlingshire-volume-11/156
