I am trying to find a birth,

born Robert Leslie Thompson 18th June ? 1931, Barrow in  furness.

this is His death reg,

I do not know what I am missing ?

Not sure what info you need,Eileen, but 1931* refers to his year of birth and the details below are the GRO ref to his death  - Q1, 2004, etc.

Nearest Birth ref for that name is Dec Q 1929, Sunderland

Have not found a birth record but FindMyPast has a shipbuilding employee record for a Robert Leslie Thompson at Barrow, which seems to confirm the dob, except 18th.

left 19/1/1949

remarks: Own accord. Joined RN.

trying to find His date of birth is proving hard,

such a common name .

as far as I know He died in 2004 .

I also found the R L Slater birth. I can’t see any obvious hits for him in 1939 or a death.
