Hi Can anyone help me.  I am traveling to Ireland to see where my Grandparents Kate Duffy and William Connolly, born 1889 and 1888 and lived in the townland of Woodfield County Mayo and William in the townland of nearby Derrynaned off route 322 between Kiltmagh and Kilkelly ( Eircode F35WV63)
I believe my Grandparents were baptized in St Patricks Church right on Rt 322. Kate on 10/15/1889 and William on 1/26/1888. The church currently there on Rt 2322 seems to have been built in 1937 so and I see a picture online with a sign that says in "memory of woodfield school" which was torn down many years back.  I suspect both the original church and the school was at the same location

I am visiting in September so I just hoped to confirm this is the site they were baptized at and went to school there as well.  Many thanks .. John

I am their grandson.

Sounds like you need to use the GeoHive Mapviewer
https://webapps.geohive.ie/mapviewer/index.html

If I'm following what you said correctly there is no church where the present church is on the old maps and the only school I've spotted is just outside Kilkelly but you sound like you a familiar with the present day map so may do better on the old maps that me.

Clicking on the dark square with the four white squares in it will bring up the old maps.

Welcome to Rootschat

I am not sure I understand but just a few thoughts for you.
Have you checked the births of your grandparents and following census records?
This site is good for civil records after 1864.
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/
Then the census is here  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

If I have the right people, there are various townlands mentioned in the records but all these are within the civil parish of Aghamore and the area of Kilkelly.

Is this William in 1901
http://www.census.nationalarchives :).ie/pages/1901/Mayo/Kilkelly/Derrynaned/1595048/
1911

If so, his grandmother Ellen is with the family in 1901.

This is likely the marriage of his parents - in Knock. I would imagine you would be visiting there  :)

Back to the beginning  :)

I believe my Grandparents were baptized in St Patricks Church right on Rt 322. Kate on 10/15/1889 and William on 1/26/1888

Do you have their baptism records? How is the church named?

William - birth 26th January 1888
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1888/02524/1935104.pdf

Catherine - birth 26th October 1889
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1889/02450/1910689.pdf

As you can see, Catherine’s civil birthdate is later than your baptism date but baptism was more important than registration so dates often differ.
