« on: Monday 01 May 23 12:45 BST (UK) »
Hi
My I'm trying to find information for my great Grandfather Valentine Patrick Mahoney parents..

Michael Mahoney and Mary Carey possibly Carew as Australian records have both names.

Married: 6 Jan 1879 • Thurles Parish, Tipperary, Ireland

Immigrated to Australia: July 1879 • port phillip bay, Australia

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Welcome to RootsChat!

Married: 6 Jan 1879 • Thurles Parish, Tipperary, Ireland

Do you have a primary source for this information, or was it taken from Ancestry tree? I can see that there is also a Find a Grave profile for Michael and his wife:
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/212461271/michael-mahoney

Since the marriage is alleged to have taken place in Ireland post-1864 (when civil registration of all marriages began in Ireland), there should be a marriage certificate for the couple, which will provide their fathers' names and occupations. Marriage certificates can be viewed for free via irishgenealogy.ie. However, I cannot find no evidence of an 1879 marriage in Thurles (or anywhere else for that matter).

I know, but OP said marriage took place in 1879, so the 1845 aspect is not really relevant here. Regardless of religion, if the marriage took place in 1879 in Ireland then it should have been registered.

...and like yourself, I can't see a marriage record.  ;)

Is it the Michael who died 19 Jun 1920 Warrnambool?

If so father Patrick mother Margaret.

Michael had a son Valentine Patrick.

Sorry bit confused over the names - is it Michaels father Patrick you want parents for?

If it is the family on the Findagrave site then Michael died in 1912 and Mary in 1921, both in Australia.

On FS I have found a birth/bapt in 1852 ( at  Newport  Co Tipperary of a Mary Anne Carey   15/8/1852 with parents Batt Carey (Bartholomew?)*  and Catherine Smithwick. (Kate)  The parents reside at Birdhill Co Tipp.

Welcome to RootsChat MahoneyCareyCarew.

The Victorian BDM has Valentine Patrick MAHONEY's parents as Michael MAHONEY and Bridget CAREW on his death registration (1947, aged 62).

Modified to add:
Death notice:

Modified to add:
Ah, I see to confuse things, his birth appears to be 1885 registered in Fitzroy, parents Michael MAHONEY and Mary (nee CAREY).
