This is a document of Thomas Ray the younger ie I am thinking the one born 1636.  Unless the father was also a Thomas Ray the younger.  So he may have been about 25 when he died.  Hence possibly being married but not having children.  Therefore giving property to his sisters and brother and to his mother & uncle.

it is a nuncupative will ie an oral one given in extremis (hence the words 'spake'/'uttered')
'A nuncupative will is given when a person is sick or injured and is confined to a hospital or care situation with little time expected to live'.

Many thanks this makes a lot more sense with the wife being Barbara and no children etc.

I also noticed the Margarett OVIATT/Thomas RAY Marriage 07 Aug 1628

Did siblings marry siblings?

Alice RAY/Thomas OVIATT married 28 May 1628

Thanks Trish, most of what you have sent me makes sense, except this:
Alice RAY/Thomas OVIATT married 28 May 1628

THIS IS WHAT I HAVE AND I CAN'T GET MY HEAD AROUND THE IDEA THAT THEN THERE WERE TWO COUPLES OF THE SAME NAME SOME 100 YEARS LATER

Thomas Oviat 1520 Tring, Hertfordshire married Alice Ray (1510) their three sons were John Oviat 1535-1599, Phillip Oviat 1550, Hugh Oviat 1553-1610
Alice Oviat (Ray) died February 1589
