Trace a war ancestor

Hello, I’m hoping anyone can help me with my search of finding more about this man

John Marshall
1885–1917

was born in 1885 in Skipton, Yorkshire

Residence
John Marshall lived in Shevington, Lancashire, in 1911.


The only war records i could find are these : Military
John Marshall served in the military in February 1917 in Wigan, Lancashire, when he was 32 years old.
Enlisted 5th Kings (Liverpool) Regiment . Private No 203309
Feb 1917 • Wigan, Lancashire, England

If anyone can help me more about this man, that would be great thank you

Wigan Observer and District Advertiser 10 November 1917

His picture and a notice from his wife saying she received official notice that he was missing as of 20 Sept and asking if anyone has heard of his whereabouts.

He was awarded the British & Victory medals - no Theatre of War shown on the MRI

Interesting - can't find any Speightman/Marshall marriage. 

You may wish to consider getting John's marriage certificate to see what name is given for his father.

Or you could get the possible birth certificate as a pdf for £7.
