Where is Bertram?
« on: Wednesday 10 May 23 11:50 BST (UK) »
I am looking for Bertram Bird, he was born in 1896 Cockermouth registration, his parents are James Bird born 1857 in St Teath, Cornwall & Elizabeth Lawson born 1864 Burgh by Sands Cumberland. The family lived in Borrowdale, cumberland in 1891 census and in 1901 census, 8 of their children were born there including Bertram. 1 child Edwin James was born in Little Dunkeld in Perth Scotland where they were living with James brother John. In 1901 census Bertram was missing, I cannot find death details in cumberland or Little Dunkeld, nor can I find him living with grandparents. In 1911 census it states they had 9 children, 2 having died. Mary Elizabeth died the same year she was born but possibly the other child is Bertram, can anyone give me an idea where to search next please.

Hi, this is really outside my experience and likely a set of red herrings. But a quick look at father James, turns up a series of names, James Bird, Baird, Burd and a James HC Bird-Mortimer. They all lived in the Cockermouth or Borrowdale area. Also, James Bird-MORTIMER of Cockermouth married 1896. Maybe there is another family associated with James and possibly Bertram is with them? But, Bertram seems to disappear. An open search of Borrowdale or Cockermouth shows no likely hits on Findmypast other than his baptism.
