N. C. shown in 1839 burial register
« on: Saturday 13 May 23 18:39 BST (UK) »
Good evening,

i have come across the letters N. C. written in the margin, at the side of an entry, in the Woodkirk 1839 burial register, the letters do not appear again in the register.

Can you explain what N. C. might signify?

Thank you for looking.

Regards,

Janet

Nonconformist perhaps?

Added - it's not on the Bt entry, just the Parish Register.

Hi emeltom,
I thought Nonconformist, but would that appear in a C of E register?

Hi g eli,
there is a baptism in East Ardsley church, less than 3 miles away, for a Jane Furness 22 Oct 1837 which would correspond with the age when Jane died.
